Things are slowly returning to normal here in Hull and that got me thinking about local events Pat and I have frequented here in anticipation of hopefully seeing some again in the not too distant future.
We were going over some photos as I decided to reorganise them in the cloud and I came across a few I’d taken when we visited Artlink in Hull where local artist at the time, Andrew Reid Wildman, who I had come to know through blogging had some of his work displayed in an area called, The Pocket:
Urban scenes and buildings in need of repair or demolition fascinate Andrew and are the focal point for his photography and painting. Originally from Scotland, Andrew has since moved from Hull, England and now lives in France. More of his work can be found on his website: https://reidwildman.wordpress.com/
I was very fortunate not only to have come to know Andrew through the blogosphere, but also to have a five-star review written by him after he read my memoir: Miedo ‘Afraid’ which came as a complete surprise:
Review: I found this book enthralling, and I read it in two sittings over a weekend. It triggered many emotions in me, with themes of deracination, neglect, Hullness, abuse, and childhood through the eyes of a boy. It was very readable and I found certain parts of it, for example the Flamborough sequences, really resonated with me… Andrew Reid Wildman
Thanks Tony!

Seeing these pictures makes me think of day trips out to see someone’s art–and it will be nice to be able to do that again in the future. And getting to know other bloggers is a really nice part of creating, isn’t it? It’s a nice exchange and sometimes you learn something.
