Flamborough is the first poem in the second part of Reflections. Of Places.
Flamborough was a places very special to me, especially during my childhood years. It was in this small seaside town among the high cliffs and the caves I used to explore where I found peace and escape from the horrors of my life. Even during my 20 year stay over in America, Flamborough called out to me in my thoughts and dreams which inspired the poem. More can be learned about my explorations and adventures in Flamborough in my first memoir: Miedo: Living Beyond Childhood Fear.
Flamborough
You are
My mother
You are
My friend
I am in
Your debt
Until
The very end
You nursed
My childhood
Calmed away
Fears
I have not
Forgotten you
Though-out the Years
The wind it lulled me
With seagull cries
The sea it called to me
With echoing skies
Never once
Did you
Ever
Let me down
I always felt
Safe
Your love
All around
– I went
Away
We were
Worlds
Apart
You called out to me
You touched
My Heart
Through all
The times
I felt lonely
Felt blue
My mind
My heart
Reached out
To you
The wind it lulled me
With seagull cries
The sea it called to me
With echoing skies
Never once
Did you
Ever
Let me down
Again I felt
Safe
Felt
Your love
All around
–
Now
I’m returned
May you
Have your way
At the very
End
On that
Final Day
May my ashes
Be cast
From your cliffs
Aright
Forevermore
May we
Be
Reunite
The wind
She lulls me
With seagulls cries
The sea
She calls me
With echoing skies
I know
You
Shall never
Let me go
We shall
Be
As one
Forevermore

This is lovely, Kevin. I remember Flamborough from my childhood too. I can hear the seabirds calling and feel the wind in my hair as I read those words.
